For a first vintage, I am spoiled. Barely arrived on the domain in June with my diploma in hand, we had to face the strong pressure of diseases. It was necessary to be very rigorous on the work of the vineyard. When outbreaks of disease were observed, I took the decision to remove the clusters affected by the disease. This made it possible to limit the contamination to the other bunches which were healthy, but also to lighten the stock by removing the infected bunches. In early September, 200 mm of rain fell on the vineyard. Enough to weaken morale, but Saint-Vincent, patron saint of winegrowers, was not to be far away. The north wind and the sun came to dry the grapes and helped them ripen. We harvested on September 25 in the early morning in the box to preserve the harvest as best as possible from any oxidation. The grapes were golden with a very good sanitary condition. Once the harvest is pressed, the verdict falls. A harvest greater than 13% vol with good acidity. Despite a loss of harvest, all the work done in the vineyard paid off: a healthy and quality harvest.
Harvest 2008: a vintage of quality.
